PRAYERS TO GET TO THE END OF THE MONTH / 2016
This project is based on the formal similarity between mantras and the chants of street vendors, characterized by the repetition of the same phrase in a rhythmic way.
Although they share the same form, they differ in that the mantras have religious and spiritual intentions, while the chants have the intention of selling a product.
The work corresponds to a sound installation in which a triptych with the transcription of the original chants of the street vendors is delivered.
The songs were recorded and placed in a dark room illuminated by an electric candle. Upon entering, visitors receive a booklet containing the transcriptions of the lyrics and designed in the same style as the prayer booklets of these churches.
